Venice Beach, Hollywood YMCA, Great Pastrami Sandwiches

So, I’m about a week behind. I hope to catch up now that I have a “home” base for a month or so. The picture here is still from my first week in Los Angeles.

I stayed at the Hostel for a few days and visited lots of downtown LA. Including The Hollywood YMCA. Almost as old as the one I worked at in Knoxville.

Hollywood Hostels and Being a Tourist Where I Grew UP…

I have stayed in Hostels throughout the USA and always love them. I’ve met so many great people from all over the world and many of them I’ve stayed friends with to this day.

Now for those of you who are not familiar with the hostel concept here it is:

Santa Monica My First Days of My Adventure

What a wonderful, special and lively time I’m having in California. Here is a collage of the various things I did and saw my first two days here:

My days in Santa Monica WONDERFUL

The plane ride was bumpy. I have never really flown in turbulence before. I was only about an hour late after the delays from the storm. Not bad at all. I was met at the airport by my brother, Sean, who I haven’t seen in about 12 years. Continue reading

Tennessee Leaving California Arriving…The Getting Ready

Still dealing with a bit of, not so much jet lag as, exhaustion. I guess from all the farewells, packing, selling, storing, and arranging.

But it is a really good tired. I’ve spent the first few days just getting acclimated I will post a blog about my first few days here tomorrow.

Just now getting to my blogging. It is amazing how much stuff there is to set up when you move to a new place for this long especially if you plan to then leave it and aren’t really setting up a homestead.

So here are a few pictures of me getting ready to head out:

The night before I left I went to see Walking With dinosaurs thanks to friends at AC Entertainment with all the Spears and Marley. Followed by staying the night at the Spears with Luke.

The day I left involved going to Marley’s little league baseball game with the Spears and Luke:

AND THEN the scary and brave driving skills of Debbie

Spears to the Nashville airport during a hellaceous storm. Complete with tornado warnings and massive flooding.

We got to the airport with an hour to spare. Btw a minute to give a shout out to Southwest Airlines and several fronts. First YEAH for no extra money to have luggage. Nor was there any charge for peanuts, crackers, or non-alcholic drinks! I also was so happy and thankful that as I was dropped off at curbside in the rain with lots of tears. I only had to pull my luggage two feet to the outside check in. No extra money there either, although I did tip $3 and gave LOTS of thanks.

Once at my terminal, it took less than 10 minutes to go through security and then about 10 to get to my terminal. Then there was a delay. Continue reading

Going Away Party

I smile when I think of my friends!!!!

My wonderful friends are giving me a going away party tonite. So sweet and will be wonderful to just relax and enjoy people who have been a positive part of my life here in Knoxville. I want to especially thank Melissa for hosting the party. And for all she has done for me over the years. The listening, the humor, the provoking thoughts. I look forward to tonight and to the next two weeks of fun with friends. Thanks all…

Getting Ready…

Relax Stacy you have NOTHING to be doing right now…

Okay so stress level is much higher than I want. I was really hoping to spend my last couple of weeks in Knoxville enjoying friends, the weather, nature and being relaxed. But I’m not completing my TO DO list as fast as I want. Here is the list:

  • Get all my belongings to between 15-20 boxes.  Packed and stored neatly.
  • Yoga mat bags cut, pinned and sewn. Then packed.
  • Write letters of personal information in case of an emergency.
  • Get all the stuff I have of other peoples to them.
  • Pack the few things I’m taking.
  • Get glasses.
  • Have a TB test.
  • Take my re-certification for CPR.
  • Download Skype.
  • Finish my Photobucket and memorabilia books.
  • Have a picnic with Marley.

So, I guess the idea should be stop procrastinating and DO IT!!!! But gotta say loved going on a nature walk and spending time with Marley in this wonderful weather the last few days. Now I will get busy! 19 days and I will be in CALIFORNIA.

  • South of France
  • Bulgaria
  • Poland
  • Ukraine         (side trips to Hungry, Romania, Albania, Croatia)
  • Ireland           (visiting all of the United Kingdom I can)
  • HOME TO THE USA for about 3 months
  • New Zealand

There will be so many different farms along the way. Here are a few:

Spirals

A couple of years ago my friend, Jen, shared with me her theory on life. She believes that life is a series of spirals. A person’s choices determine if the spiral is an upward or a downward spiral?

An upward spiral produces a positive reaction.  Continue reading

Welcome to my blog…

I’m 46 years old and after two years of thinking, dreaming, and researching I made the decision in July 2009 to follow my dream of world travel.  I’ve wanted to travel for as long as I can remember – at least as far back as Junior High School (yeah yeah I’m surprised I can remember back that far too). I used to dream about all the places I would go as soon as I was old enough to get away.

But then….

….life happened
